Sneak Peek TCB

July 11, 2010

I have to admit I was a little, uh….unsure, about this shoot when TCB first contacted me through Twitter about a portrait session.  Even though I’ve been shooting for awhile now,  I’d never shot a candy bar before.  I’m so glad I decided I was up for the challenge because we had so much fun!  I think we got some great shots that really capture his personality & despite the sun & heat, TCB was charming & a great sport the entire time.

Camping Good Eats

April 8, 2010

Last week we drove to Zion National Park where we met and camped with J’s parents who drove from Colorado.  We had a great time hiking (the freaking scary Angels Landing hike of death…..), biking (rented a road bike….I’m hooked!), and eating (never heard of campers eating so well).  For now, I’ll post some pics of our campmade good eats.  We had one dinner and one breakfast at local Springdale restaurants and they were both amazing, too!

The Menu:
1st night:  Homemade Tortilla Soup with tortillas, avocados, and cilantro
1st morning: Eggs scrambled with veggies & Gib’s Bagels
2nd night: Baby Back Ribs & Foil Packets with potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, bell pepper, ??
2nd morning: Scrambled eggs, potatoes with leftover foil packet ingredients, bagels
3rd night: Bit & Spur – the thai curry soup was amazing!
3rd morning: Cafe Soleil — everything was fresh and delicious.  I had a regular coffee, green tea steamer, and tomato basil ravioli soup.  Excellent customer service, as well!

And naturally, there were smores involved.

There was also an ice cream parlor in town that served Wells Blue Bunny ice cream which is made in the Ice Cream Capital of The World, – LeMars, Iowa (where J’s parents grew up).  The guy who worked there was so nice.  That’s a pic of my cone — cherry nut & cotton candy.  :)

And speaking of bunnies.  The big, famous one made a visit, as well.  :P

Good Eats in Mammoth

We had lots of yummy homemade food:

I love this.  It’s like someone is looking up while lying on the ground after passing out:

Mammoth Brewing

March 22, 2010

Oh, yum.  Haven’t had beer I liked this much in…maybe ever.  A weekend ski/snowboard trip to Mammoth took us to the Mammoth Brewing Company for their free tasting of nine beers on tap & my love rate was astounding.  I liked all but one of the beers and my favorites were the Golden Trout Pilsner, Mammoth Double Nut Brown (yeah, ummm, what??), Real McCoy Amber Ale, and IPA 395.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

March 17, 2010

…a day that means nothing to me, which is why I’m posting a picture of a pink martini instead of a green beer.  For the last couple years, I’ve wanted pink drinks for my birthday (I guess because of Valentine’s Day) and this year because my birthday celebration was closer to St. Patrick’s Day, SMD (resident bartender) made me both pink AND green martinis.  More pics of those to come…I am taking advantage tonight of the specials at my favorite,  Henry’s Hat.
