On our way to the Annenberg Space, we drove past the Los Angeles National Cemetery in Westwood as we’ve done a million times on the 405. This time we were on Sepulveda and I had my camera at the ready, so I jumped out and took a shot. I’d like to revisit when I have more time & am not separated by a fence.
Sunday we went to The Annenberg Space for Photography in Century City. I’ve wanted to visit since it opened late March and now that I’ve been I want to become a frequent visitor. It was great because 1. The subject interests me 2. Easy to reach 3. Free 4. Small enough that it requires no more than an hour per visit 3. Cheap & convenient parking 4. The escalators at 2000 Avenue of the Stars are fast & svelte. Yes, svelte escalators. 5. Nice views & buildings. The interior space itself is gorgeous with a clean, fresh feel. The Pictures of the Year International exhibition and film on the importance of photojournalism were affecting. POYi will be on display until November 1st, so check it out before then. I really dislike the colors & deep contrast in these photos, but as I’ve said before — photos demand to be edited in a certain way. So even though I don’t like them, I feel like these are “right.”
These were taken at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston but the droopy greens remind me of Savannah , which makes me want to go there. For a visit…..long enough to walk around with drink in hand and do a run through the squares, then back to the real world. I love where I live. And I love that LA is my real world. I would say I’m very lucky, but I guess since living here is a choice I should say….Damn, I make good choices.
