The Red Party

February 28, 2010

It’s been a week since I’ve blogged!  Pretty freeing, actually, but I’m back on board now.  The files from the new camera are so huge, they quickly overran my hard drive.  After trying several things, we decided the easiest was to just get a bigger one.  All the moving photos around meant I couldn’t access them for days, hence the no blogging.  I’m back in red.

Last Saturday, I took photos of The Red Party, the annual fundraiser for the Life Through Art Foundation. My friend Kris Kelly has an integral role at LTAF and worked very hard to make the night at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum a great success.

I got a bunch of standard, posed red carpet shots  – but I prefer the candids.  Some of the younger ones were escorted by documentarian parents.

The heads of state, Jeffery Brooks & Kris Kelly:

The party itself was a ton of fun, then we moved it a few blocks away to Stout where I got to try out the 24-70. J gave SMD a piggyback ride due to pained feet.  Not one to trade pain for beauty, I carried a plastic bag with two pairs of shoes in it all night.  That’s right, I had a total of three pairs with me at all times.  Low heel, medium heel, and high heel.  I actually was able to wear all three and the bag was no big deal, so this is something I plan to do again.

Dogtown Dog Truck

February 20, 2010

I don’t care much for hot dogs, but I had the California Dog and Buffalo Tots from the Dogtown Dog Truck in Venice and they were both super good.  I can’t wait to have them again and also try everything else on their menu.

At $4-$6 a mug, it better be good.  It’s the best coffee I’ve ever had!  This is the Venice location:

For the record, I love each of my cats equally.  Oliver just seems to more often call for the use of my camera.

I got to do my first headshot session using the new camera with my AMAZING friend Sheila Daley who as you can see is beautiful on the outside and lucky for me as her friend, beautiful on the inside as well.  :)   These were very heavily pared down and there are so many more I’d love to show but part of my photographic goal for 2010 is to filter better/more.  I see other photographer’s blogs where they show one or two shots from the entire session and I’m so envious they could narrow it so far!  So, only in a weak moment will I try to sneak a few more on here.  I anticipate at least a couple weak moments.  :P
