Last week I rented a macro lens from BorrowLenses.com to use for a particular session & it suited my style so well since I love getting close. Add it to my list of must-haves! I was extremely pleased with my Borrow Lenses experience, as well.

Fun with Macro
September 2, 2010Sake Dog
August 31, 2010Ahhh, hello blog readers. Instead of blogging, I have been busy taking photos for $, traveling for fun, and gearing up for some big(ish) changes for AKeiganPhoto. I don’t feel right when I’m away from the blog for so long. :( I must say, though – being away from Facebook & Twitter has been amazing. For several weeks or more, I’ve only been on long enough to respond to messages. It’s insane how much time that has given me for other things! I’m going to ride this disinterest in social media for as long as I can….so call, email, or see me in person for some real communication! :)
Meet Sake: a session for which I can thank my beloved Moo cards . How so? The co-owner of this GORGEOUS & SUPER SWEET dog saw my card at M-Street Coffee & thought I “looked like a nice girl.” He doesn’t have a computer so he couldn’t even see what kind of photos I take! No computer + $$ to spend on professional dog portraits = extremely wary Alej. So wary that I took a weapon to our consultation at the home he was house-sitting. (Seriously. I really did – in my purse. The whole thing just seemed weird to me!) Luckily, the situation made perfect sense after meeting the guy (who happens to be totally nice & funny & interesting) and I felt 100% comfortable attending the session unarmed. Ok, that sounds hilarious.
I love animals & taking photos of them, but this was my first commissioned project. I LOVED it! Working with a dog is kind of like working with a small child in that they don’t really take direction well & do respond to treats & manipulation. I would love to do this sort of thing again.
This particular session has already resulted in more photo work….so now I feel really bad that I thought I may have to kill the guy. :p
New Backgrounds
July 28, 2010I’m excited to offer several new headshot backgrounds for those who like the look of a studio background! I like the natural environment look a lot, but I love color so I tend to like these a lot, too. My set-up arrived by mail yesterday and while it was so, so fun to do a test shoot with my juice container, I tweeted for a model willing to come asap. KL was just leaving an audition, so she stopped by for a quick shoot, no special clothes or make-up for the occasion. I love how they turned out!
New backgrounds are: purple, green, aqua, white, and pink (not shown). (In case you aren’t familiar with your colors….)
Sample Press Printed Albums!
July 26, 2010My sample albums arrived & they are gorgeous! IMO, this is a product that can’t be skipped, no matter the type of session (well, for a headshot session it would be kind of vain but besides that…..). They’re a beautiful, high-end display piece & a perfect way to get most or all of the images from your session in a tangible form. Right now they are priced to sell at $400 for 20 sides & $650 for 40 sides but those prices won’t stick around for long!
Many ways to customize the album:
6by6, 8by8, 10by10 sizes
20/40/60 page spreads
3 page choices: Art watercolor, Art linen, Satin lustre-coated
35 cover options – suede, leather, fabric, custom photo from your session & custom metallic photo:
6by6, 20 sides with teal fabric cover & satin lustre pages
8by8, 20 sides with custom metallic photo cover & art watercolor pages
8by8, 40 sides with dark red alligator leather cover & art linen pages
More Wedding
July 22, 2010Here are a few more pics from the wedding I shot with Nick Sayaan a few weeks ago at Maggie’s Farm in Agoura. The spot was gorgeous & the food delicious (not to mention organic & grown locally). Obviously, I thought the dog was cute. :)
